Teen Police Academy

The Albany Police Department’s Teen Police Academy is an excellent opportunity for young people to gain an understanding of how the agency operates. The Teen Police Academy is free of charge. The course runs for five Saturdays and meets at the Law Enforcement Center each week for two hours.

The Teen Police Academy will cover topics that include presentations on bullying in schools, gang violence in Albany, teen drinking and driving, the effects of drugs, and the overall consequences of bad decision-making. You will also have an opportunity to participate in a community service project during week five. This will be an eight-hour day. We hope that the knowledge, experiences, and exchange of information between you and the officers will make this one of the most enjoyable sessions you have ever experienced. After the program, teens will participate in a Teen Police Academy graduation and receive a certificate from the Chief of Police or their designee.

If you are ready to be enlightened and have a good time doing so, please complete the application and return it today.
