Enforcement Division
The Code Enforcement Department consists of the Enforcement Division and the Marshal’s Division.
The Enforcement Division is responsible for ensuring the life safety, general health, and welfare of the public within the boundaries of the City of Albany and Dougherty County, as it relates to commercial and residential properties. This is accomplished by enforcing the Georgia State adopted building codes, laws, and local ordinances of the City of Albany and Dougherty County. The primary duties include preventing, identifying, correcting, or abating violations of all applicable laws, codes, and ordinances. All functions of this Department require frequent communication and interaction with other local, state, and federal officials.
The Marshal’s Division is responsible for maintaining the best interests of the citizens of Albany and Dougherty County as it relates to conducting business, security for the Municipal Court, and Albany Utilities.
