Unsung Hero Award

This award is presented annually to a City of Albany employee who has made a positive impact on their community and the lives of others by volunteering their time and energy without seeking recognition for their good deeds. 

 

What are the Characteristics of an Unsung Hero?

Unsung heroes often show unwavering commitment to their cause and the people they assist. They consistently appear day after day, quietly making a long-term difference.

 

Courage

Numerous unsung heroes demonstrate bravery in the face of challenges or adversity. This may involve standing up for others, speaking out against injustice, or persisting through difficult circumstances.

 

Empathy

They have a strong empathy for others, enabling them to understand and connect with people's needs and struggles.

Influence through actions: Unsung heroes primarily inspire others through their actions, rather than their words. Their integrity and commitment serve as examples that encourage others to follow.

What are the Qualifications of an Unsung Hero?

• You must be nominated by someone other than yourself. 
• Acts cannot be part of the person's normal job duties.
• The nominee must be an active employee of the City of Albany.
