Marshal's Division

The Marshals are responsible for upholding the best interests of the citizens of Albany and Dougherty County in conducting business. Their duties include conducting investigations, regulating and approving permits, and monitoring alcohol establishments and businesses. To ensure that those conducting business have an Occupational Tax Certificate and an Alcohol License (when applicable) for the City of Albany & Dougherty County. Aid in the collection of delinquent excise taxes and bad checks.

They also inspect all vehicles for hire to ensure safe transportation for the public; they perform training to area merchants in the hope of preventing the sale of alcohol to persons under age. This Division also serves delinquent property tax notices, city warrants (make an arrest), and delivers summons from the Municipal Court. Additionally, the division is responsible for the security of the Albany Utilities during judicial hearings of the Municipal Court and Utility Board meetings.
