Government 101

What It Is

How much do you know about the City of Albany's Government? If you would like to learn more about how decisions are made or how the City operates, then join us for Government 101. Every Monday, over a nine-week course, participants will have the opportunity to sit down with Albany leaders and staff as they explain what their department does and the role they play in our City Government. Participants are also allowed to ask questions and share a meal with our City staff.

Details

To offer participants an opportunity to get to know City leaders more personally, each nine-week course only has 20 spots available. Registration forms will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Because space is limited, we ask that you only apply if you can make it to at least seven of the nine courses. Any participant who misses more than two classes will not be allowed to complete the course. Below is a planner for the next nine-week course. If you do not think you will be able to attend at least seven of the nine classes, we encourage you to apply to a Government 101 course that better aligns with your schedule.

Application

The fall 2025 Government 101 class is now full. For those who registered for the fall course, classes will start on Monday, August 25, 2025.
