Colette Jenkins, who was born and raised in Albany, Georgia, serves as City Commissioner for Ward 5, bringing a strong foundation in public service, leadership, and community engagement.  

Commissioner Jenkins is a graduate of Dougherty Comprehensive High School and a proud product of the Dougherty County School System. She attended Albany State College (now University) for 2 years before beginning her career with the Georgia Department of Public Safety in 1989, serving as a radio operator, license examiner, and CDL license examiner. In 1994, she graduated from the 68th Georgia State Patrol Trooper School and continued serving the State of Georgia until 1999.

In 2002, she partnered with her husband, Adrian Jenkins Jr., at A.E. Jenkins Photography Studios, contributing as a professional makeup artist to transformational portraiture for weddings, executives, ministers, families, and high school seniors.

In 2008, she founded Chosen To Conquer, Inc., a nonprofit inspired by her personal journey with multiple sclerosis, focused on health awareness, education, and support for individuals facing chronic and life-altering illnesses.

In 2012, she assisted in Albany Downtown Development by the managing and booking events at the Nelson Tift Building Convention Center and in 2016 she returned to Albany State University as a non-traditional student, to earn a B.A. degree in Political Science and strengthen her informed approach of representation and participation to governance and public policy.

She serves on city and community boards including the Albany-Dougherty Inner City Authority (ADICA), Community Economic Development Council, the Albany Police Department Civilian Review Board, and participates in community health education outreach through local radio programming. 

Her experiences guide her commitment to transparency, fairness, and responsible decision-making for Ward 5 and the City of Albany.
