Commissioner Willie C. Weaver Sr.

Willie C. Weaver, Sr., was born in Manchester, Georgia, and raised in Albany, Georgia, attending Dougherty County Schools and graduating from Dougherty High School. He attended Albany State College for approximately one year before enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he served for thirteen years as a medical specialist before being honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. Willie earned many awards while serving our Country in Europe (Germany), East Asia (South Korea), and the Continental United States. 

Willie graduated from Cecil B. Day College of Arts and Sciences at Mercer University, Atlanta in 1989 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science (Highest Average) and a minor in Religion. In 1992, he graduated from Walter F. George School of Law, Mercer University, Macon, earning a Juris Doctorate Degree with the highest average in Labor Law. 

After completing college, Willie returned to Albany and practiced law with Brown & Scoccimaro, PC, Brown, Scoccimaro & Weaver, PC, and Weaver Law Offices LLC, and has practiced law for over thirty years. In addition to practicing law, he was elected to the Dougherty County School Board in 2002 and served as Chairman of the Board. Willie became the Chief Judge of Albany Municipal Court in 2004, after serving three years as Associate Judge. He has also served as Chief Judge in the Georgia cities of Dawson, Leslie, Sylvester, and Warwick. 

Judge Weaver is the Past President of the Council of Municipal Court Judges, where he was at the helm during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. He helped develop procedures to keep courts open and functioning during that time and has held various positions on the Council, presently serving as the Second District Representative. 

In a special election held on June 18, 2025, Judge Weaver won the election and was sworn in as City Commissioner for Ward 2 on Wednesday, June 29, 2025.  He is thankful for the opportunity to continue serving Albany, the city he loves and has invested in so much. He is a member of the Greater 2nd Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church and is a proud family man who treasures every moment he gets to spend with family.
