COVID-19 Response and City Funding Resources

COVID-19 Response and City Funding Resources

The City of Albany received a special allocation of Community Development Block Grant funds for $523,987 to be used for preventing, preparing for, and responding to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This allocation will be issued through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and was authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, signed by President Trump on March 27, 2020, to address the growing impact of Albany’s public health crisis.

The City of Albany, Department of Community and Economic Development, will prioritize the unique needs of low- and moderate-income individuals in partnership with its public health department, local nonprofits, and businesses.

A virtual public hearing was held on the City’s FY 2020-2021 Annual Action Plan, Substantial Amendments to FY 2018 and 2019 Action Plans, the 2016-2021 Consolidated Plan, and the CARES Act Funding. The public hearing was held to obtain input on the prioritization of planning and addressing priority community needs.
