Honorable Ingrid P. Driskell
Ingrid P. Driskell graduated summa cum laude from Albany State College in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law in 1993. A dedicated member of the Georgia Bar, Judge Driskell brings over 23 years of litigation experience and five years of judicial service to her role.
Her legal career began in Atlanta, where she served as an Assistant Public Defender for Fulton County from 1993 to 1996. In 1998, she returned to her hometown of Albany to establish a solo practice, representing clients in both civil and criminal matters at the state and federal levels.
From 2002 to 2003, Judge Driskell served as Solicitor for the Albany Municipal Court, prosecuting misdemeanors, traffic offenses, and code violations. She was later appointed Solicitor for the Lee County Probate Court, serving from 2004 to 2006. In 2003, she became the Public Defender for Albany Municipal Court, advocating for indigent defendants in misdemeanor and traffic cases, as well as code enforcement matters.
Between 2014 and 2019, Judge Driskell also served as a Special Assistant Attorney General for the Georgia Department of Law, representing the Dougherty County Division of Family and Children Services.
In November 2019, she was sworn in as Associate Judge of the Dougherty County Juvenile Court, where she served until January 28, 2025. The following day, she was appointed Chief Judge of Albany Municipal Court by the Mayor and Board of Commissioners.
Judge Driskell is an active member of the Dougherty County Circuit Bar Association and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Dougherty Judicial Circuit Mediation Program. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Albany. Above all, she cherishes her role as mother to Daysha and Daymon Polite, and grandmother to Dakoda James Polite.
