Solid Waste Division
The City of Albany Solid Waste Department implemented an Automated Collection System for household garbage collection. Please assist us by following the procedures below:
All garbage is required to be placed only in the containers furnished by the city. Boxes must be broken down and put inside the container. No garbage is picked up unless it is placed inside the container. Additional containers may be obtained for a fee by contacting City Solid Waste Division at (229) 302-1800.
Containers must be placed at the curb no sooner than 5:00 pm the day before collections and removed no later than 7:00 pm the day of collection.
Barrels must face the roadway and be placed within 3 feet of the curb or roadway so the truck pickup-arm can reach the barrel. Please do not place barrels beside utility poles or mail boxes.
Leaves and yard debris will be picked up twice a month and must be piled near the garbage pick up site. No other debris or trash can be mixed in with the yard debris.
Thank you for working with us to make Albany a cleaner community.
Please remember to recycle whenever possible!
