Albany Municipal Court

The Albany Municipal Court is a limited jurisdiction court that handles misdemeanor cases and enforcement of city ordinances as well as state traffic offenses. Common case types include:

  • Traffic violations

  • Driving under the influence (DUI)

  • Underage possession or consumption of alcohol

  • Possession of marijuana (less than one ounce)

  • Firearms violations

  • Nuisance and abatement matters

  • Animal control citations

Court Schedule 

In-Custody Arraignments
Arraignments for individuals in custody are held at the Dougherty County Jail Facility at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Arraignments & Bench Trials
These are conducted at the Albany Law Enforcement Center (201 W. Oglethorpe Blvd., Albany, GA 31701)  on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday beginning at 9:00 a.m., or immediately following completion of jail arraignments.

Animal Control & Nuisance Abatement Dockets
These cases are heard on the fourth Friday of each month at the Albany Law Enforcement Center (201 W. Oglethorpe Blvd., Albany, GA 31701)
