Albany, GA – Beginning Sunday, January 11, 2026, the City of Albany will activate Operation Safe Place to provide people with a warm place to stay overnight.
According to the current forecast, freezing temperatures are now expected overnight throughout the rest of this week and into next week.
The Albany Transit Center at 300 W. Oglethorpe Boulevard will be open from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Sunday, January 11th, through Tuesday, January 20th. The transit Center will resume regular operations at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21st.
We will continue to monitor the weather to see if the warming center will need to be extended or if any additional days will need to be included.
