Land Surveying

The City has in-house surveying services operating under the supervision of a Professional Land Surveyor. They support many departments within the City of Albany. The surveying group locates and marks city street right-of-ways for civil design projects and risk assessments. We provide boundary surveys and legal descriptions for property being sold or acquired by the City of Albany. The group provides field locations for current easements and surveys for new easements being acquired in support of civil engineering projects. Topographic Surveys are prepared for our civil engineers as the base maps for civil design projects.

We also support our GIS Mapping Department. The primary purpose of the GIS mapping crews is to inventory the utility infrastructures currently managed by the City of Albany, as well as to produce an updated and easy-to-maintain map and database. Each utility system has its database that can be shared across the City’s computer network and integrated with existing engineering, planning, and maintenance operations within the organization.

The City of Albany does not provide Land Surveying services to the public. If you need a survey for your property, contact one of our local Surveying or Civil Engineering firms for these services.
