Albany, GA – On Thursday, February 12, and Friday, February 13, 2026, the City of Albany will activate Operation Safe Place to provide people with a warm place to stay overnight.  

According to the current forecast, cold temperatures are expected overnight both Thursday and Friday.

The Albany Transit Center at 300 W. Oglethorpe Boulevard will be open from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. beginning Thursday and will resume regular operations beginning at 7 a.m. the following day during this time.

We will continue to monitor the weather to see if the warming center will need to be extended or if any additional days will need to be included.

Anybody wishing to donate can deliver it to one of the fire stations Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. For a list of fire stations and the types of donations accepted, please see the flyer below.
