Albany, GA – Albany Utilities will be issuing “Continuous Flow” water usage notifications on August 17, 2026. This water usage alert is designed to help identify situations where water on the customer’s side of their water service is running continuously for a 24-hour period.

The purpose of this notification is to provide customers with timely information so they can check for potential issues, such as a leaking toilet, dripping faucet, irrigation system problem, or another source of ongoing water use.

Receiving an alert does not necessarily mean there is an emergency or a major leak.  However, because a “continuous water flow alert” is being registered by your meter, it is an indication that water is flowing somewhere beyond the meter (on the customer’s side of the water service).

Customers who receive an alert are encouraged to take a few simple steps:

  • Check faucets, toilets, irrigation systems, and outdoor spigots for water that may be running unexpectedly.
  • Look for signs of leaks inside and outside the home or business.
  • If the water use is expected, for example, filling a pool or another planned activity, no action may be needed.
  • If you discover a leak, arrange for repairs as soon as possible to help prevent higher water bills and unnecessary water loss.

Prompt attention to unexpected water use can save water, avoid higher utility bills, and prevent more significant service-related problems from developing.
