Albany, GA – The Albany Fire Department will begin hydrant inspections on Friday, February 27, 2026.
The goal of hydrant testing is to ensure a reliable water source in the event of a fire, verify hydrant operation, and identify areas of the distribution system that may need maintenance or repair.
During the inspection, the water may temporarily appear cloudy or discolored. Cloudiness or discolored water does not diminish the water's safety. If you notice your water is discolored, please run your cold water tap for a few minutes until it runs clear.
The City of Albany is working hard to ensure public safety. Motorists are also strongly advised to drive slowly and use caution when in the vicinity of crews.
