Albany, GA – On Thursday, April 30, 2026, the City of Albany Public Works Department identified and began addressing a sanitary sewer spill affecting the storm drainage system near the Cromartie Beach boat launch.
Crews located the source of the issue in the vicinity of Maple Avenue, about 300 feet directly south of the Cromartie Beach boat launch.
Crews have been working on the site since that time to correct the issue. Public Works teams and City‑contracted service crews have already taken steps to slow and temporarily stop the spill while permanent repairs are prepared.
This issue is limited to the storm drains and does not affect the City’s drinking water.
The City of Albany is working quickly and carefully to address the issue.
