The Board of Commissioners of the City of Albany will be making the following appointments on June 11, 2019:

  1.  Four appointments to the Chehaw Park Authority for two year term expiring July, 2021 (must reside in Albany/Dougherty County or a contiguous county: (Worth, Mitchell, Baker, Calhoun, Terrell, Lee)

The Board of Commissioners of the City of Albany will be making the following appointments on May 28, 2019:

 

 Two appointments to the Downtown Development Authority to fill a four year term expiring April, 2023 as follows:

  1. Must reside in the municipal corporation for which the Authority is created
  2. Can reside outside of the area, provided that they own a business within the downtown development area and is a resident of the State of Georgia (limited to one member only)
  3. Must either have an interest or represent a party who has an economic interest in the redevelopment and revitalization area of downtown
 

Any citizen meeting the specified qualifications and is interested in being considered for appointment should submit a cover letter of interest.  The letter must state which of the three qualifications are met and, a resume giving his/her background must be attached.   1. One appointment to Albany/Dougherty Planning Commission to fill an unexpired term ending January, 2020.
  2. One appointment to Keep Albany/Dougherty Board to fill an unexpired term ending January, 2020.

  1. One member to the Board of Ethics for two year term expiring October, 2020.

  2. Two city/county appointments to Joint Board of Adjustments and Appeals for term ending October 2019 and 2020 respectively.  Positions are open until filled.

 Community Development Council 

The City of Albany is accepting letters of interest or nominations from citizens who are residents of the City of Albany/Dougherty County and are interested in serving on the Community Development Council. Membership is open to representatives of active neighborhood groups, interested citizens who live in the target areas and members-at-large appointed by the Mayor and Board of City Commissioners for a one year term ending June of each year. Duties of the Community Development Council include ensuring citizen participation in allocation of the city’s CDBG and HOME federal entitlement funds; identifying community needs and concerns; prioritizing community needs, reviewing proposals for funding and monitoring the implementation of the city’s Community and Economic Development Programs.

Letters and resumes are being accepted and must contain street address, organized neighborhood group you wish to represent or indicate if you wish to represent the business community, disabled, senior citizen, social service agency, public housing or other entity. Current vacancies are in East Albany, East Towne Civic League, Jackson Heights Neighborhood, South Albany, a representative for handicapped/disabled citizens and a person representing the business sector.
