Community Development Block Grants Awarded to Community Agencies

Albany, GA – The Board of Commissioners approved Public Service Grants through Community Development Block Grant funds in a total of $100,000 to organizations listed below; each organization will receive $20,000.

Liberty House
Dougherty County Family Literacy
Boys & Girls Club of Albany
Georgia Starz Academy

The City is able to fund public service activities that have been identified as priorities within the City's 2016-2021 Consolidated Plan. However, funding for all public service-related activities cannot exceed 15% of the City's annual CDBG allocation from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and prior year program income. Funding of $100,000 was made available in the City's FY 2020-2021 Action Plan for CDBG Public Service Grants.

Each agency will receive training on public service grants management and compliance. All approved agencies are required to attend any capacity building workshops offered by DCED.
