Fire Department will Get New Fire Pumper Trucks
Albany, GA (January 31, 2020) – The City Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of three 2020 Arrow XT Side Mount Fire Pumper trucks with the requisite tools and equipment from Ten-8 Fire Equipment of Georgia for $2,141,064 in the special called meeting today.
The agenda item was presented at the Tuesday, January 28, 2020, meeting but the board decided to postpone the decision to ensure the equipment was in-line with planned safety upgrades. Cedric Scott, Fire Chief, and Yvette Fields, Director of Central Services, presented additional information to assist the board in making their final decision to purchase the fire pumper trucks. Ms. Fields stated, “The new trucks will replace three older trucks that were purchased as far back as 2006.” Delivery of the new trucks are expected in 2021.
Chief Scott expressed that the purchases were needed to replace the aging trucks and take advantage of several built-in safety features available in the new industry-standard and purpose-built fire trucks.
