Delta Announces Additional Flights to and from Albany
Albany, Ga-(November 4, 2019) The Atlanta based airline says it plans to increase flight services from Albany to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the Spring of 2020. This means that the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport will be one of four Georgia markets to see one additional flight daily, resulting in a 35-percent increase in seat capacity.
“This announcement shows that Delta Air Lines is committed to investing in Albany and Southwest Georgia. The forecasted 35-percent increase in seat capacity means more travelers will have an opportunity to experience all that we have to offer not only at the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport but also in our area,” said Mayor Dorothy Hubbard.
The increased flights will start on June 8, 2020. Delta will add a fourth peak-day round-trip from Albany, Brunswick, and Valdosta and a fifth peak-day round-trip from Columbus. Delta Connection carrier SkyWest will operate the Albany and Valdosta flights.
“We are pleased in the confidence level Delta Air Lines has placed in Albany and Dougherty County and the services the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport provides to expand operations in our region. This is a vital economic development addition for our community to continue to grow and thrive,” said Christopher Cohilas, Dougherty County Chairman.
