City Approves Solid Waste Collection Contract Extension
Albany, GA (September 24, 2019) – The City Board of Commissioners accepted the Albany Utility Board's recommendation to have an extension of the contract with Transwaste Services, LLC, for solid waste collection services for an estimated expenditure of $3,200,669.04.
In October of 2014, the City Commission approved Bid Reference 14-039 which was a 5-year contract. The recommendation is for a one-year extension to accommodate operational necessity. During this extension, pricing from the most recent year will hold firm. A-1 Brantley will continue to provide sub-contracted services under this agreement.
Stacey Rowe, Director of Public Works, stated, “There will not be any additional cost to the city or the citizens for the one-year extension. This extension will give us time to continue to look into Compress Natural Gas (CNG) trucks.”
