City of Albany to Host Community Development Week April 22-26, 2019
(Albany, GA-April 11, 2019) This week will bring national awareness to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Programs and the many benefits these programs have brought to our community. The national theme for this year’s celebration is “CDBG and HOME Make Communities Better Places To Live and Work!”
CDBG funds are administered nationally by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This year marks the 45th anniversary of the Community Development Block Grant program. The CDBG program was established in 1974 under the Housing and Development (HCD) Act. This vital federal program provides assistance to aid low to moderate income (LMI) Americans and improves our infrastructure. These programs strengthen our community’s economy by creating jobs and a safety net to the most vulnerable households.
During National Community Development Week, there will be a series of events along with other activities held at the Micro Business Enterprise Center and Albany Technical College’s Kirkland Conference Center.
