10th Annual Neighborhood Watch Association Recognition

Post Date:12/07/2018 1:00 PM

The City of Albany, Georgia and Dougherty County will hold the Tenth Annual Neighborhood Watch Association Recognition Event on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Law Enforcement Center located at 101 Oglethorpe Boulevard.

The annual Neighborhood Watch (NW) Celebration is a way for local government to recognize the hands-on participation of neighborhoods partnering with government to make their neighbor-hoods clean, drug and crime free. All NW groups will be recognized at the event on Tuesday and presented with a proclamation by Mayor Dorothy Hubbard, City of Albany, and Chris Cohilas, Chairman of the Dougherty County Commission.

Mayor Dorothy Hubbard stated, “Neighborhood watch groups dedicate their time to making our communities safer and more secure. Because of their commitment, they are able to make com-munities a better place for children, families and the elderly to be comfortable in their homes. I appreciate and applaud their efforts."

“Our Neighborhood Watch groups in Dougherty County are a vital tool in our continued efforts to fight crime and protect our citizens who deserve a safer community, said Christopher Cohilas, Chairman, Dougherty County Commission. “I am personally thankful for their selfless efforts, which help us move towards our collective goal of being a community where we can all live, work, play and pray together safely.”

“The Neighborhood Watch groups meet to share ideas that assist their individual neighborhood and one of the largest values of a NW group is that it brings neighbors together,” said Judy Bowles, Executive Director for Keep Albany-Dougherty Beautiful (KADB).
