Southwest Georgia Regional Airport is Flying High
The Aviation Commission received encouraging news at the last board meeting on the growth and productivity of the Southwest Georgia Regional Airport.
A recent report presented to the commission showed since 2013, the passenger boarding numbers are up over 15%; in the peak of the traveling season, which is the summer months, there have been increases as high as 25%. In some instances, passengers have found that fares are cheaper compared to previous years. Additionally, flights are on-time at a rate of about 85%.
Mr. David Hamilton, Transportation Director, says, “This new growth and customer satisfaction comes at a good time. We are preparing for the construction of a new passenger boarding bridge and the improvements to the main runway that will add to the customers’ overall flying experience coming in or going out of the City of Albany.”
