The License & Business Support Department (LBSD)  is responsible for maintaining the best interest of the citizens of Albany & Dougherty County as it relates to conducting business. The department issue applications for Occupational Tax Certificates (Business License), monitors the process prior to it being issued, investigate applicants for Alcohol License, Solicitation Permits, and Alcoholic Beverage Handlers Card.  The department oversees the collection of excise tax, bonds & fines, and bad checks. Inspect all vehicles for hire to ensure safe transportation for the public; investigates fraud of the City’s Utilities; perform training to area merchants hoping to prevent the sale of alcohol to person’s underage; issue Special Event Permits; and administer the False Alarm Reduction Program. In addition, serves tax levies, summons and warrants, and perform security of city owned buildings and during judicial hearings of the Municipal Court.   



The License & Business Support Department is comprised of 2 Divisions; Treasury Division and the Marshal’s Divisions. These divisions collectively issue Occupational Tax Certificates, monitor business practices, and enforces regulations to businesses within the City of Albany and Dougherty County.
