Who We Are

The Albany Fire Department is a modern, all-hazards fire department equipped with enhanced regional hazmat and water rescue capabilities. With members trained extensively in their respective fields, we maintain high standards of fire and life safety within our area of operation.

Our primary function is to save lives and property by fighting and preventing fires through fire prevention efforts such as inspections, code enforcement, education, as well as arson investigation and prosecution. Our responsibilities are defined in the City Charter and state statutes. This department consists of five divisions: Administration, Operations, Fire Prevention, Fire Training, and Emergency Management. The department operates eleven fire stations in order to provide the quickest response time possible for our residents.

CodeRED Emergency Notification System

Code Red Logo

Dougherty County in association with CodeRED Emergency Notification System has established an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications. This system allows us to communicate all or targeted areas of the County in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action; where rapid and accurate notification is essential for life safety. These notifications can be used for weather related warnings, evacuation notices, missing persons, and other vital information.

The system is only as good as the database. If your phone number is not in the database, you will not be called. To ensure no one is omitted click on the CodeRED logo and follow the directions. Be sure to check the CodeRED weather warning, if you would like to receive automated tornado, flash flood, and severe weather warnings to your home or cell phone. Those without internet access may call the Albany Fire Department at (229) 431-3262 Monday through Friday (8AM-5PM) to give their information over the phone.

CodeRED will only be used in the event of an emergency requiring immediate notification and information entered into the database will not be used for any other purpose. Questions should be directed to the Emergency Management Agency, (229) 431-2155.
