FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Albany, GA (October 12, 2018) - The Albany Transit System operation is not in full service because of unsafe roadways. Staff is completing a route assessment to determine the roadway conditions. However, Para Transit is providing transportation for medical and dialysis needs. Dougherty County School System Update - After conferring with Emergency Management Officials, based on current power and infrastructure concerns, all schools will remain closed to students for the week of October 15-19, 2018. We will provide more information on a possible restart for the following week at a later date.
Employees assigned to the Central Administration Building downtown, Facilities, Maintenance and Custodial employees are to report on Monday at normal times. If there are issues or concerns that may prevent employees from reporting to work, please contact your supervisor.
The Professional Learning classes scheduled for Thursday, October 17, 2018 have been cancelled. Open Enrollment for staff that was scheduled to begin on Monday, October 15, 2018 has been cancelled and will be rescheduled.
If at all possible, continue to stay off roadways to allow for utility workers to do their work.

Southwest Georgia Regional Airport Alert - The main terminal and airfield will close today at 2:00 p.m. and open tomorrow morning after an airfield assessment. Delta has canceled the remaining flights until 12:00 p.m. tomorrow.
Public Works Alert - Public Works Department will provide sandbags until 2:00 p.m. today for residents. Limit of 10 bags per resident.
